Baxter is dedicated to sharing information about its sustainability priorities, goals, initiatives and performance. This report illustrates Baxter’s commitment to good governance and transparency. It also serves as an entry point for stakeholder engagement and is the main vehicle for disclosing information about Baxter’s programs as well as soliciting feedback on the company’s performance.
As a part of the annual reporting process, Baxter measures and evaluates its performance, and communicates its progress and challenges. Together, these activities help the company continually improve its contributions toward addressing global sustainability challenges and advancing sustainability at Baxter.
Baxter’s exercise of collecting, analyzing and reviewing report content engages and educates people throughout the company on sustainability issues. As the most comprehensive source of sustainability information relating to Baxter’s activities, this report also helps illustrate the interconnection between content areas, such as how product innovation can support access to healthcare in emerging markets and the relationship between water use and climate change.
Baxter released its first public environmental report in 1992 and published its first sustainability report in 1999. The company has produced a sustainability report every year since, and is committed to annual reporting. This 2008 Sustainability Report is available in two versions to address varying information needs:
- Comprehensive Web version; and
- 24-page print version that provides progress updates for each of Baxter’s sustainability priorities, available in multiple languages.
