Sustainability Reporting
An increasing number of Baxter's internal and external stakeholders want to know about the company's social, economic and environmental programs, activities, performance and goals. This report addresses this need and serves as an entry point for stakeholder engagement.
In addition, the yearly reporting process enables the company to systematically evaluate performance and demonstrate progress. Measuring performance helps foster the company's commitment to continual improvement in advancing sustainability programs and increasing disclosure.
Baxter prepared its first internal environmental report in 1991, released its first public environmental report in 1992 and published its first sustainability report in 1999. The company has produced a sustainability report every year since, and is committed to annual reporting. This 2006 Sustainability Report is available in three versions, which include different levels of detail to address a range of audience information needs:
- Comprehensive Web version with expanded content in most sections (e.g., see Environment, Health and Safety section);
- Print version; and
- Highlights brochure, available in several languages.
Assurance
The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) section of this report is verified by ERM Certification and Verification Services. Due to the high level of performance data in this area, Baxter has focused its verification efforts on that section. In addition, much of the financial data included in this report is taken from the consolidated financial statements contained in Baxter's 2006 Annual Report. These financial statements are subject to an audit by Baxter's independent registered public accounting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Feedback
Stakeholder feedback is an important source of ideas for continual improvement of Baxter's sustainability programs and annual reporting. We encourage readers to provide comments and suggestions through our Sustainability Survey.
We look forward to hearing from you.
