Case Study: The Sense and Sensibility Foundation

The Sense and Sensibility Foundation, established in 1996, assists abandoned children and foster families throughout the Czech Republic. The Foundation, headquartered in Říčany, provides families with financial resources to renovate or enlarge their homes, to acquire special health devices for handicapped children and equipment for children's rooms, and funds to pay personal assistants to help disabled children.

Baxter's BioScience facility in the city of Bohumil has had a relationship with the foundation since 2004. One aspect is through financial donations. The company has donated more than $10,000 to support workshops for children, holiday trips for children and their parents, as well as ongoing needs and other initiatives. The donations included money raised by auctioning Baxter’s used computers to Baxter employees.

Baxter employees volunteer with the organization as well. For example, employees have participated in arts events and supported various fundraising efforts.
