Health and Safety Compliance

In 2008, Baxter settled two health and safety-related citations. The first involved radiation safety deficiencies identified by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2007 from an investigation into the company’s Aibonito, Puerto Rico, facility. Baxter paid a fine of $15,000 in early 2008 to the NRC. The second citation was issued by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to the company’s facility in Tampa, Florida, for deficiencies in its hazardous material transportation program. Baxter paid a fine of $30,000 in 2008 to the FAA for this matter. Baxter continues to implement program improvements related to each of these matters.
